Album Beyond Music Vol.3 CONFLICT

The 54 artists who contributed to the album Vol.3 are as diverse as their views on the subject of "conflict". Coming from 40 different countries, they have approached the musical leitmotif in very different ways and portrayed it in their music pieces. One song addresses the global refugee crisis, another the ecological conflict between us humans and our planet Earth. Some songs embody the "conflict" through their instrumental arrangement, others through the clash of different musical styles. Most of the pieces deal with an inner chaos associated with the challenge of finding one's place in this turbulent world. The compositions on Vol. 3 are methods of dealing with conflict and transforming it into the one language that connects us all: Music.

3rd single of Beyond Music Vol.3 CONFLICT

“Wororo”, the third single from our new album Beyond Music Vol.3 - Conflict, is a psychedelic-funky fusion of afrobeat and jazz music. It describes the modern obsession wealth and living the easy life, leading to external or internal conflicts. This urge is often developed at a young age, when we’re presented with ideals we think we have to achieve in order to be happy. “Wororo” was written by Fatime Songoro from Hungary, Makadem from Kenya, Msafiri Zawose from Tanzania, Nic Legacy from Canada and Tefo Mahola from South Africa. It features lyrics in four languages: Swahili, English, Hungarian and Xhosa. What unites these five artists is their approach to challenging the listener to see beyond their superficial desires and appreciate what they already have. With a cello, viola and two violins, the track also features a string arrangement from the highly-acclaimed Columbian composer and Beyond Music member Juan Andrés Ospina.

“Create music out of the core of being human”

2nd Single of Beyond Music Vol.3 CONFLICT

"Chand Ke Phool", which translates to "moon flowers", is a unique Indian/Andean cumbia song, written by Bijayashree Samal, Nic Legacy and Gonzalo Donoso Quiroga, with flute by Žofie Kašparová. It’s the second single from our upcoming album Beyond Music Vol.3 – Conflict. The song is inspired by the so-called giant-impact hypothesis. This theory suggests that earth and moon were once one planet that was broken into two by a monstrous collision with another planet. The hypothesis stands as a metaphor for how Pakistan and India were hit by great conspiracy, and therefore divided on the basis of religion. "Chand Ke Phool" states that at the core of all conflicts, there is a void, which can bring peace and prosperity if it’s filled with the sharing of love and care.

1st Single of Beyond Music Vol.3 CONFLICT

"Hold Oss" is an anthemic track bristling with compassion and strength. It addresses the dehumanization of refugees, challenging its listener to find the nameless and faceless refugee in themselves. Four-time Grammy Award winners and producers Michael League and Bill Laurance described "Hold Oss" as “a brilliant example of how less can be more” and accentuated its “powerful restraint and distinctive sonic palate”. The song is a collaboration between four artists from Norway and Turkey. It was written by Marthe Valle and Hussain Hajj. Gamze Yilmazel contributed guitar and Jens Kristian Rimau played piano.

Album Beyond Music Vol.2 SAME PLANET

The 60 artists from 26 countries represented on the album have collaborated across all difficulties and their isolations during the 2020 virus pandemic. Their 16 songs on the theme of "Songs for the Planet" are as diverse as the artists on our platform: they are about climate change, the extinction of endangered animals and plants, the protection of our children and women, the call for reconciliation of our planet Earth with its inhabitants, the concern about our future and a new awareness to interact with each other in this world.

Album Beyond Music Vol.1 SAME SKY

23 artists from 17 countries have come together and developed deep friendships. The album is a human testimony to solidarity across borders and countries, born of open dialogue, innovative collaborations and respectful understanding. The artists named their album "Same Sky". We all live under the same sky, no matter what cultural background we are from and what inequalities exist in our lives. “Same Sky is not only a musical experience, it is a human experience” says Danielle Eog Makedah, winner from Cameroon.
